BHS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit historical organization that was founded in 1939, on the 300th anniversary of the founding of the town of Barnstable.

Our mission is to create and foster an interest in the cultural heritage and maritime history of Barnstable, and to promote local historical research and education.

Your help allows us to care for our collections at the Phinney-Jones House Museum and at the Old Jail, and also funds our research and conservation projects, for visitors of all ages to explore and enjoy.
